Responsible Wine Vendor Program

Overview

A responsible wine vendor is a retail food store, retail package store, or winery that has met all requirements for such status. Responsible wine vendor status is required for each such licensee, and responsible wine vendors must ensure that all certified clerks obtain the required responsible wine vendor training.

Certification is valid for one (1) year and is renewable annually. For fees and forms, check the Public Information and Forms page.


Requirements

You must be a person, corporation or entity that has been issued a license as a retail food store, retail package store, or winery.


Restrictions

  • If a clerk wants to work at more than one store, they must be on the clerk list on each store they work at.

New Application Process
  • Clerks must be trained by a Responsible Wine Vendor Program trainer within sixty-one (61) days from the date of hire.
  • Complete the TABC Responsible Wine Vendor Application.
  • Complete the Clerk List.
  • Provide a copy of the Company's Organizational Documents (Such as a Charter).
  • Provide the application fee.

* All forms must be completely filled out, signed and notarized.

* All payments must be made with a money order, cashier's check or business check from the licensed establishment and made payable to the Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission. Global money orders will not be accepted.

* Notaries are available at the Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission office for walk in clients. You must be present, have proper identification and the notary must witness your signature.

Renewal Information

The responsible wine vendor should provide a renewal application and a current list of all clerks and their annual training dates and appropriate certification fee.
