The Equine Interstate Movement Permit allows horse owners to obtain a permit equivalent to a health certificate, but valid for six months. The 'passports' are only valid in particpating states: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia.
Tennessee horse owners may submit an application to their veterinarian along with a copy of an original health certificate and a current Equine Infectious Anemia test result. Horse owners are responsible for keeping a record of events in which the horse participates. The equine passport is valid for six months. The event itinerary must be kept with passports listing all travel destinations (including destination address) for the horse. When completed or prior to passport renewal this event itinerary must be faxed to (615) 837-5250 or e-mailed to email@example.com or be sent to the Tennessee Department of Agriculture - Animal Health.
