Art of Correction II
A partnership of the Tennessee Arts Commission, The Tennessee Department of Correction, and Tennessee State University's Criminal Justice and Art Departments
November 8, 2012 - January 4, 2013
Tennessee Arts Commission Gallery
The Art of Correction is joint venture between the Tennessee Arts Commission, the Tennessee Department of Correction and Tennessee State University’s Criminal Justice and Art Departments. During the semester-long program, ten TSU art and criminal justice students attended evening classes along with ten inmates at the DeBerry Special needs facility in Nashville. All participants discussed and debated basic theories in criminology and art. The participants were asked to create images to better explore ideas and concepts as they relate to self and the classes. The TAC will showcase some of the unique works generated from this program in its second year.
