TENNESSEE ARTS COMMISSION TO MEET IN HISTORIC JONESBOROUGH
NASHVILLE - - The Tennessee Arts Commission will hold its next quarterly meeting in Historic Jonesborough, the state’s oldest city. The meeting will be held Thursday, Sept. 13, 2007 at the International Storytelling Center at 1:30 p.m. (ET). The Center is located at 100 West Main Street.
According to Ed Gerace, chair of the Commission, the meeting agenda will include a report from the Interboard Committee for Public Awareness, and a report on the strategic plan and the recent Commission staff retreat. Reports will also be provided by the Tennessee State Museum and the Audit Committee.
The consent agenda will include a review and vote on the quarterly meeting schedule, monitoring schedule, committee appointments, approval of funds for At-Risk Youth Grants, governing policy revision, and the FY2009 State Budget.
While in East Tennessee, the Commission will visit the Johnson City Area Arts Council and observe the Arts Corps Hip-Hop Class. Commission members and staff will see firsthand the impact the program has on children and youth, and will have an opportunity to view artworks and displays.
The Commission’s quarterly meetings are open to the public.
