INDIVIDUAL ARTIST FELLOWSHIPS AVAILABLE FROM TENNESSEE ARTS COMMISSION
NASHVILLE - - Individual Artist Fellowships are available from the Tennessee Arts Commission for Fiscal Year 2009 (July 1, 2008 – June 30, 2009). Applications must be postmarked or hand delivered to the Commission office by 4:30 p.m. (CST) on Monday, January 28, 2008. The award provides fellowships to outstanding artists who live and work in Tennessee. No matching funds are required and no specific project has to be carried out with the funds. The Commission anticipates that each fellowship will be $5,000.
Categories for the fellowships include: Music (instrumental performance and composition); Dance (performance and choreography); Theater (acting); Literary Arts (fiction/creative nonfiction and poetry); Visual Arts (three-dimensional); Craft; and Media (film and video).
Applicants must be legal residents of Tennessee at the time of application, with a permanent Tennessee mailing address. This award is designed to recognize professional artists, defined as those who either by education, experience, or natural talent engage in a particular art form or discipline. Because of this participation, the applicants have been financially compensated for such, and this compensation provides a significant source for their livelihood.
