Beautylash MD was marketed and sold in Tennessee by Nutra-Luxe, M.D. as a product that was allegedly designed to grow longer, thicker eyelashes. The State alleged that Beautylash MD's ability to grow eyelashes arises because it may contain an analog or derivative of the drug compound prostaglandin. If Beautylash MD contains this drug compound, the State alleged that Nutra-Luxe should have obtained FDA approval prior to marketing and selling Beautylash MD in Tennessee and should have made certain disclosures to consumers. Under the terms of the settlement, Nutra-Luxe has voluntarily agreed to stop selling Beautylash MD and similar products in Tennessee without first obtaining approval from the Food and Drug Administration.
