Ropes and Knots
This course provides a basic understanding of the importance of ropes and knots in the fire service. It builds a foundation of knot tying and rope handing skills which the student can build upon. Enables the student to hoist or lower tool, appliances, or people; to pull a person to safety; or use rope as a lifeline in an emergency. Discusses different construction methods and materials used to make rope. Covers the care, cleaning, inspection, and storage of rope. Shows how to tie basic fire service knots, and how to secure tools and equipment to be raised or lowered.
This online course has been approved by the TN Firefighting Commission for annual In-Service training.
