The introduction of contraband into state prisons is a serious violation of state law and will not be tolerated by the Tennessee Department of Correction. Visiting inmates in state prisons is a privilege. Visitors who abuse this privilege by bringing or attempting to bring contraband inside our facilities will be prosecuted. Employees discovered introducing contraband into state prisons face termination and criminal prosecution for violating the laws they have sworn to uphold.
The following is a list of contraband arrests in February, 2014:
Hardeman County Correctional Facility Correctional Officer Shantell Cheairs was arrested by the Whiteville Police Department and charged with introduction of contraband (cell phones, chargers, USB cords, lighters, 2.6 oz. tobacco.
