Community Work Program


The Tennessee Department of Correction expects all inmates to work or attend school.  The community work program is just one way offenders are giving back to the community in a meaningful way.

For calendar year 2009,  the community crews worked 885,117 hours. They averaged 73,759 hours a month. These crews worked for other state agencies, local government and non-profit organizations.

From January, 1996 through December, 2009 community crews have performed 17,511,163 hours of community work.

The state agencies that received some type of assistance from the crews during 2009 are the following:
