Deputy Commissioner for Child Programs
As Deputy Commissioner for Child Programs, Sherri Hale supervises 12 regional administrators and the central office staff who are responsible for providing child protective assessment services, foster care, adoptions, extension of foster care and interstate services. In this capacity, she supervises the day-to-day operations of approximately 2,000 DCS staff.
Ms. Hale began her career as a social counselor with Child Protective Services in 1983 with the Department of Human Services, became a Team Leader in 1988 and a Team Coordinator in 2001.
She served as the Regional Administrator for the Northeast Region for eight years and before becoming Deputy Commissioner was the regional administrator for the Smoky Mountain Region.
Ms. Hale earned her BSW and MSW from East Tennessee State University. She is peer reviewer for the Council on Accreditation, a graduate of Commissioner’s Cornerstone Leadership Academy and has received many awards including the Community Award for support of improving independent and transitional living services to youth, Commissioner’s Speaker Award For Excellence in Leadership, Speakers’ and Commissioner’s Award and District One Employee of the Year.
