Reading First in Tennessee
Local Education Agencies (LEAs)/schools who met the selection criteria had the opportunity to write a Reading First subgrant for children in grades kindergarten (K) through three (3) who are experiencing difficulty in reading. Subgrants were awarded on a competitive basis. Improving instructional practices which will improve student achievement is an essential component of Reading First.
