Lori Munkeboe - Director
Lori Munkeboe majored in Geology and is a graduate of Tulane University. In 1983, she began her career with state government in the Department of Transportation, working in the Division of Materials and Tests and performed subsurface soils and geologic testing for roads and bridges across Tennessee. An avid environmentalist, Lori accepted an opportunity in 1990 with the Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) and has worked in several program areas including hazardous waste management and water pollution control before focusing her efforts on environmental assistance and stewardship. Recognized by several TDEC Commissioners, Lori’s leadership abilities have allowed her to serve as a senior staff member since 2005. In January 2012, TDEC Commissioner Bob Martineau appointed Lori as director, tasking her with spearheading the creation of the Office of Sustainable Practices. Lori applies "green" measures to all areas of her current work. She is a member of the Tennessee Recycling Coalition and serves as Commissioner Martineau’s designee on the Keep Tennessee Beautiful Advisory Council.
