Edgar Evins hosts Fall Color Cruise on Nov. 3
(Middle) Sponsored by the Friends of Edgar Evins State Park, this cruise is sure to delight as we view the fall scenery and homes of country stars. Admission $10 per person and reservations are required. For adults and children over age 3 accompanied by an adult. We start accepting reservations the 1st of October each year. David Crockett hosts David Crockett 10K on Nov. 3
(Middle) The fifth race in the 34th annual TN States Park Running Tour. All races are held on Saturdays from October to March at 11 a.m. local time in 21 different State Parks, located from Memphis to Kingsport. This race is sponsored by the Crockett Runners. Nathan Bedford Forrest hosts NSSA Skirmish on Nov. 3
(West) Target competitions with soldiers dressed in Confederate and Union attire. Set up will be at the Ball Field. The Friends of Nathan Bedford Forrest will be selling snack and drinks. Bar-B-Q will also be available for purchase. For more information call 731-584-6356.

Big Cypress Tree hosts Big Cypress Fall Festival on Nov. 3

Johnsonville hosts Historic Walking Tour on Nov. 3 & 4
(Middle) Join Park manager Jerry Wooten for a beautiful fall hike honoring the 148th Anniversary of the Battle of Johnsonville. Hear an intriguing Civil War story about Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest’s tactical victory against the Union supply deport of Johnsonville on Nov. 4, 1864. Please meet at the park trail head at 1:45 p.m. CT. The walking tour leaves precisely at 2 p.m. CT. Bring water, a light jacket and good walking shoes as the tour involves moderate to strenuous hiking and lasts approximately one and a half hours on both days – Saturday and Sunday. Laurel Snow SNA hosts Fall Hike to Snow Falls and Buzzard Point on Nov. 7
(Plateau) Join us for a mid-week hike to Snow Falls and the Buzzard Point where we can see great views of the Ridge and Valley to the east toward Chattanooga. If the leaves are late, the colors can be great! Morgan, Henderson, Laurel and Richland Creeks never fail to please visitors with their beautiful chutes, pools and huge rocks. Bring layered clothing and footgear appropriate for November weather along with snacks and water. The hike is considered moderate with some significant up-hill climbing. Total distance roundtrip is about 5 or 6 miles. Meet at 8:30 a.m. ET at the Laurel Snow State Natural Area. For more information contact Lisa.Huff@tn.gov.

Nathan Bedford Forrest hosts Pilot Knob 10K on Nov. 10
(West) The sixth race in the 34th annual TN States Park Running Tour. All races are held on Saturdays from October to March at 11 a.m. local time in 21 different State Parks, located from Memphis to Kingsport. The course features 2.5 miles of mostly flat road, a very steep uphill takes you to the turnaround at Pilot Knob. Pilot Knob is the highest point in Tennessee west of the Tennessee River. Fall Creek Falls hosts Backpacking Trip on Nov. 10 & 11
(Plateau) Join us for a 13-mile trek through some of the more remote portions of the park. This hike is for both novices and experienced backpackers and includes a 2-day guided hike with an overnight camp. There is a $10 fee and pre-registration is required. Pickett hosts Volunteer Day on Nov. 17
(Plateau) Participate in trail work, planting native species, litter clean up and other park projects. Meet park personnel and the Friends group at the park office at 9 a.m. CT. Work days generally last until 3 p.m. CT. Bring gloves, water, a sack lunch and snacks. Wear sturdy shoes and long pants. Sunscreen, insect repellant and a hat are also good to have. Feel free to work a few hours or stay the entire time. For more information call 931-879-5821.

Reelfoot Lake hosts “Love the Lake” Lakeshore Clean-Up on Nov. 17
(West) Please help us Love the Lake! Meet at the state park visitor center for a morning of lakeshore clean up by canoe. Bring a pair of work gloves if you have them. Boats, life jackets, canoes and paddles will be provided for this special opportunity to get close to the unique lake short. Participants will paddle in the shallow water between cypress knees to remove unwanted debris. Snacks will be provided. Dress for the weather! Meet at 9 a.m. CT at the Reelfoot Lake State Park visitor’s center. Reservations required: Reservations may be made by calling 731-253-9652. Frozen Head hosts Volunteer Trail Day on Nov. 17
(Plateau) 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. ET. The public is invited to join us in maintaining the park’s trails. Tools will be provided. Volunteers should be prepared for a variety of weather conditions including rain and snow. Bring food, water and a daypack. Some areas require hiking one to two miles in rugged terrain. First time volunteers must complete a liability form. Located in the beautiful Cumberland Mountains of East Tennessee, Frozen Head State Park is easy to find. From the Interstate 40 exit 347 at Harriman take Hwy. 27 North to Wartburg. Turn right (East) on Hwy. 62. Travel two miles and turn left on Flat Fork Road. Travel 4 miles to the park entrance. Reelfoot Lake hosts Deep Swamp Tromp on Nov. 17 & 18
(West) This 3 hour hike will take participants into old growth cypress forest off trail and into some of the most remote areas of Reelfoot Lake. The bald cypress trees are some of the largest in this area of the country. Participants are encouraged to wear sturdy hiking shoes and long pants, and bring a snack and water to drink. Meet at 1 p.m. CT on Saturday, or 9 a.m. Sunday, at the Reelfoot Lake State Park visitor’s center. Reservations required: Reservations may be made by calling 731-253-9652. Sycamore Shoals hosts Harvest Celebration & Militia Muster on Nov. 17 & 18
(East) Saturday, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. ET. Sunday, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. ET. It’s a jollification! The Washington County Militia musters its troops for good times and good cheer!
