Unemployment Security Info

Three methods are used to determine if a company must contribute to unemployment funds.

  1. Are you paying Unemployment Security in another state?
  2. Do you have a total payroll of $1,500 or more in any quarter of the current or preceding year?
  3. Are you hiring an employee for some part of the week for 20 weeks within a year?

Unemployment insurance is 2.7% of taxable payroll for a period of twelve (12) months, up to a maximum of $7,000 for each employee. A minimum of $50 is charges as an assessment fee.
