Tennessee’s Department of Finance and Administration has applied for federal funds to combat illegal drug and violent crime activities in Tennessee under the 2013 Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) program.  The amount allocated to Tennessee is $ 5,131,525.  A copy of the Byrne JAG Grant application summary is available for public review and comment at the state Office of Criminal Justice Programs website at:

Medal of Valor Opens May 31
May 31 marks the opening of the 2012–2013 Public Safety Officer Medal of Valor (Medal of Valor) nomination period. The highest national award for valor by a public safety officer, this medal is awarded annually by the President or Vice President of the United States to public safety officers who have exhibited exceptional courage, regardless of personal safety, in the attempt to save or protect human life.
