INSPECTOR GENERAL'S OFFICE ASSISTS IN OPERATION FALCON IIINASHVILLE, TN - Special Agents with the Office of Inspector General (OIG) teamed up with local, state and federal officers in the largest fugitive sweep focusing on violent sex offenders. FALCON III resulted in the arrest of 10,773 fugitives and the clearance of over 13,000 warrants. OIG Special Agents participated in 32 arrests in the Middle Tennessee area. Operation FALCON III netted 971 sex offenders, 140 homicide warrants cleared, over 3,000 narcotics warrants served and 232 firearm seizures. A total of 1,063 different agencies participated, including 30 federal agencies, 103 state agencies, 430 sheriff’s departments, 482 police departments and 18 foreign agencies. Within the Marshals Service, 48 districts in 24 states and the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico were involved. An average of 3,000 law enforcement officers worked each day during this very show of force. |
