About this Initiative

The First Lady’s Statewide Summer Reading Competition is a free summer-long literacy challenge designed to motivate children to read more books and visit their local library over the summer break. Students may read with a family member, friend, or on their own and we encourage reading books with a wide variety of subject matter and reading levels. Minutes can be self-tracked and self-reported by Friday, July 28 through your local public library.
