As the Tennessee Department of Human Resources continues to support the State’s focus on recruiting, retaining, and rewarding a talented workforce, the Department serves as a consultant for state agencies for employee recruiting and hiring. With the goal of becoming an Employer of Choice, while providing services in a customer-focused, efficient and effective manner, the Department recently hired an Executive Recruiting Director.
The Director serves as the State’s lead recruiter and assists agencies across the enterprise with any recruitment needs. As the State workforce needs continue to change, a Recruiting Director is an essential tool to identify candidates for positions that are difficult to fill as well as those positions with high turnover or succession gaps. The Department advertises vacancies and collects and reviews all applications for state employment while partnering with agencies to recruit qualified talent to fill preferred and executive service positions.

As DOHR remains focused on recruitment of a talented workforce and making the State of Tennessee an Employer of Choice, certain positions, such as Health Services, Legal, Agriculture, Law Enforcement, etc. may be advertised on external internet job sites (i.e. Simply Hired, Indeed, LinkedIn, Bullhorn Reach) to reach a larger applicant pool, or may be posted to specialized trade journals (i.e. Nashville Business Journal) to reach additional diverse candidates with the requisite qualifications. The Department also advertises and promotes vacancies on social media sites which include Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
