REQUIREMENT TO APPLY FOR OTHER BENEFITS |

As a condition to eligibility for Families
First, any person, with the exception as explained below, who
is reasonably certain to be entitled to any other case benefit (not SSI) must
apply for and accept such benefit for her/himself and/or any member of the
assistance unit. Failure to apply for or to accept the benefit renders the AU
ineligible if the grantee relative is required to be a member of the AU. Failure to apply for or to accept the benefit renders the grantee
relative who is not required to be included in the
AU ineligible to be included in the AU. Exception: Applicants or current recipients of
(actual or deemed) Families First benefits who were receiving a VA pension in
December, 1978, or prior thereto must not be required to apply for and/or
accept improved pension benefits, nor can they be sanctioned in any way for
their failure to do so. |
