A public hearing to offer comments on Tennessee’s Social Services Block Grant (SSBG) Application has been scheduled for April 26, 2017. The plan, needed to draw down federal SSBG funds, can be found on the Department of Human Services website at http://www.tn.gov/humanservices/article/social-services-block-grant.
SSBG is 100 percent federally funded through a grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The program, available in all 95 Tennessee counties and administered through contracts with a network of nonprofit and government agencies, provides funding for eligible citizens for various programs, including adult daycare and homemaker services. Services are limited to low- income elderly and disabled adults.
Citizens must apply for the program through their local agency. Find agency contact information at: http://www.tn.gov/assets/entities/humanservices/attachments/ssbg_agencies.pdf
Public comments can be submitted through May 2, 2017 via e-mail to Mamawah.L.Hill@tn.gov or by phone at 615-532-1605.
