Board of Law Examiners of Tennessee
The Tennessee Board of Law Examiners governs the examination and admission of attorneys who wish to practice law in Tennessee. This office admits attorneys previously licensed in another jurisdiction for more than 5 years (comity admission) and administers the bar examination to recent law school graduates. The exam is given twice a year (February and July). It is a 2 day exam consisting of the Multistate Bar Examination (multiple choice) and 12 essay questions.

Computerized Testing for the February 2010 Bar Exam
Computer testing for the essay portion of the Tennessee Bar Examination has been continued for the February 2010 sitting. There will be no limit but will take place in NASHVILLE ONLY. Please read all of the instructions carefully. Do not sign up for computer testing unless you are absolutely sure that you will be sitting for the exam. If you withdraw you will be depriving another student of the opportunity. Taking the exam on a laptop will involve an additional fee of $100.00 paid to Extegrity Software. This is a NON-REFUNDABLE fee.
IMPORTANT!
The registration for laptop testing and release of liability form must accompany the full and complete application for the
February 2010 bar exam. Submitting only these forms does not constitute filing with the Tennessee Board of Law Examiners for the
February 2010 bar examination. You must also follow the How to Apply instructions whether you are a first time taker in Tennessee or a re-take applicant.
