Outreach and Education
The Office of Consumer Affairs provides stakeholder education through presentations and printed material. Educational outreach promotes self-determination in treatment decisions and improves recovery outcomes. Education outreach includes:
- Declaration for Mental Health Treatment
The Declaration for Mental Health Treatment allows consumers of mental health services to state the kinds of services they would like to receive or not receive if they become unable to make informed decisions about their treatment. This document empowers individuals to be proactive in the treatment of their mental illness.
The Declaration for Mental Health Treatment is provided to consumers, peer specialists, and providers. The office disseminates informational brochures and provides training opportunities on how to complete the Declaration.
