• Tennessee Guard Military Police arrive in Virgin Islands

    Members of the 252nd Military Police Co., 117th MP Battalion, Tenn. Army National Guard climb aboard a Tenn. Air Guard C-17 Globemaster out of Memphis bound for the US Virgin Islands.  The 252nd MP Co. will assist local authorities in the USVI with various tasks such as point of distribution (POD) security and traffic control along major roadways.

    U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS - Tennessee Army National Guard Military Police from the 117th Military Police Battalion, headquartered in Athens, began their deployment to the U.S. Virgin Islands over the weekend, and continued on Monday and Tuesday.  A total of twenty personnel from the 117th Battalion and 120 personnel from Cleveland and Oneida’s 252nd MP Company are part of an overall National Guard MP contingent headed to the islands. The MP’s are providing security for supply distribution points and augment the VI local authorities.

  • Tennessee Guard Continues Hurricane Recovery Operations in Virgin Islands

    Two Tenn. Army Guard UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters perform sling load operations in the US Virgin Islands in support of relief efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma.

    U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS - Tennessee Army National Guard aviators are a key part of the combined hurricane recovery operations in the U.S. Virgin Islands.  The Tennessee UH-60 Blackhawks and crews controlling Task Force Smokey have welcomed an additional four UH-60’s and thirty three personnel from the Missouri Army National Guard.  The Missouri detachment will take part in the ongoing mission of moving large numbers of troops and cargo over terrain unsuitable for ground vehicles.

    Members of the Bulgarian Army show off an MT-LB Multi-Purpose Tracked Vehicle that is part of the Bulgarian Army to Staff Sgt. Nathan West, Staff Sgt. Vincent Estes, and Master Sgt. Jason Kelley, of the 118th Security Forces Squadron, September 14.

    NASHVILLE, Tenn.  –  Three members of the 118th Security Forces Squadron, out of Joint Base Berry Field in Nashville, Tenn., returned from a training mission in Botevgard, Bulgaria, September 15. The Airmen were there to demonstrate various skills while working within Tennessee’s State Partnership Program.

  • Tennessee Helicopters Headed to Virgin Islands

    Tennessee Army National Guard Soldiers of the 1-230th Aviation Regiment load a UH-60L Blackhawk helicopter on to a New York Air National Guard C-17 Globemaster III to assist in recovery efforts in the US Virgin Islands following Hurricane Irma.

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Four UH-60L Blackhawk helicopters and 34 Soldiers assigned to the 1/230th Aviation Regiment, Tennessee Army National Guard, are headed to the US Virgin Islands to assist in recovery efforts following Hurricane Irma.

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The viral photo of a Soldier saluting a funeral procession while standing in the rain has been identified.  Colonel Jack L. Usrey is the Senior Army Advisor to the Adjutant General at Tennessee National Guard Headquarters in Nashville.  While driving from Ft. Knox, KY last week, Col. Usrey met a funeral procession, stopped, got out of his vehicle and paid his respects to the deceased.

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Staff Sgt. Dustin Rottero, originally of Gladeville, was recognized as the Region III “Best Warrior” during a ceremony at the Wendell H. Ford Regional Training Center in Greenville, Ky. on April 26, 2017.  Rottero, a member of Tennessee’s Recruiting and Retention Battalion, edged out fellow competitors to earn the prestigious title and secured a spot at Camp Ripley, Minn., where the Army National Guard will hold the national competition in July.

    Tennessee Adjutant General Receives Danish Medal

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. – In a ceremony at the Tennessee National Guard Joint Force Headquarters in Nashville, Tenn., on March 27, Tennessee’s Adjutant General, Maj. Gen. Max Haston, received the Danish Home Guard Meritorious Service Medal. The award was presented by the commander of the Danish Home Guard, Maj. Gen. Finn Winkler, for spearheading the groundwork for future training opportunities between the Tennessee National Guard and the Danish Home Guard.
