29th ANNUAL SAFETY AND HEALTH CONGRESS IN NASHVILLE
1,800 SAFETY & HEALTH PROFESSIONALS FROM ACROSS TENNESSEE TO ATTEND

NASHVILLE - The 29th Annual Tennessee Safety and Health Congress will be held at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center Monday, July 31, through Wednesday, August 2. Attendance at this year’s congress is expected to exceed 1,800 delegates from across the state with approximately 125 exhibitors. Last minute and on-site registration is available to safety and health professionals.

Governor Phil Bredesen has proclaimed the week of July 31-August 4 as Safety and Health in the Workplace Week in Tennessee. “Workplace safety is a top concern for our state,” said Governor Phil Bredesen, who will speak at the opening session on Monday. “This annual conference is vital for our working men and women to protect their welfare. Tennessee’s safety and health professionals will benefit significantly from the extensive training opportunities.”

“This congress is a great opportunity for safety and health professionals to see the latest innovations in products and services related to workplace safety and health,” said Labor and Workforce Development Commissioner James Neeley. “The people who attend this congress will leave with a better understanding of how to keep Tennessee’s workers safe and prevent workplace accidents and deaths”

The conference features safety experts leading more than 60 seminars and is designed for safety managers, supervisors, plant managers, safety committee members, industrial hygienists, human resource managers, risk managers, health care providers and employees.

Workshop topics range from common health hazards, accident investigations, preventing back injuries, hearing conservation and the 2004 Workers’ Comp Reform Act and its implementation. The congress is co-sponsored by the Tennessee Occupational Safety and Health (TOSHA) Division of the state Department of Labor & Workforce Development and the Tennessee Chapters of the American Society of Safety Engineers.

The special Federal OSHA Training Institute’s approved “10-Hour General Industry Safety & Health Course” is among the workshops offered at this year’s Congress. Participants in this course, which is recognized by the U.S. Department of Labor, are entitled to all other Congress functions.
