Marvin Windows & Doors of Tennessee Recognized For Environmental Successes

Officials Celebrate Tennessee Pollution Prevention Partnership (TP3) AchievementRipley, Tenn. — Environment and Conservation Commissioner Jim Fyke will participate in a recognition ceremony at the Marvin Windows & Doors facility Wednesday, August 30, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. CST . The facility, located at 101 Marvin Road in Ripley, will be honored for achieving Performer Level status in the Tennessee Pollution Prevention Partnership (TP3) environmental leadership program.

Commissioner Fyke will present Greg York, General Manager, and other representatives with a framed certificate of recognition and a green Performer flag for the facility’s achievements in preventing pollution. Marvin Windows & Doors joins six other industries, a medical center and a school among TP3’s highest performers.

“This is a great achievement for both Marvin Windows & Doors and its employees,” Fyke said.  “The company is committed to looking for opportunities to eliminate and reduce waste, recycle and save natural resources. Their leadership not only prevents pollution, it also provides an example of how environmentally friendly practices can benefit the bottom line.”

To achieve Performer status, TP3 program participants are required to develop and complete a five-project plan to help prevent pollution of air, land, and water, while reducing waste and conserving natural resources. Performers also incorporate community outreach and mentoring into their programs.

This is a core company value,” said York. “This recognition of TP3 Performer Level status is a confirmation of our Chairman’s Vision and Company Values. I want to thank and congratulate all of our associates for achieving this standard of excellence.”

Marvin Windows & Doors documented five environmental success stories to achieve Performer status, demonstrating measurable results in pollution prevention. Notable results include lowering total annual air emissions by three tons, reducing hazardous air pollutants by 300 pounds per year, saving 678,000 kilowatt hours per year, reducing water usage by 600 gallons per day, and recycling more than 95 percent of the facility’s office paper and 65 percent of its corrugated cardboard.
