TDCI to Participate in Senior Scam Prevention Panel in Murfreesboro July 7
NASHVILLE – The Tennessee Department of Commerce & Insurance’s (TDCI) Division of Consumer Affairs and other consumer protection experts will take part in a scam and identity theft panel at the St. Clair Senior Center in Murfreesboro on Friday, July 7, 2017. This free event will provide residents with ways to keep their personal information from falling into the hands of scammers and identity thieves.
“Seniors are more likely to live alone and have a nest egg, making them a common target for con artists,” said TDCI Consumer Protection Director Cynthia Wiel. “We look forward to this opportunity in Murfreesboro to inform and empower older Tennesseans to ask questions and make valuable decisions to protect themselves against scammers.”
TDCI staff will discuss different scams that are affecting senior adults in Tennessee and share tips on how to avoid becoming a victim. Rep. Tim Rudd (R-Murfreesboro) will also be in attendance to lend support for this important educational event.
