  • Campbell County Business Owner Pleads To Sales Tax Evasion Charges

    Jacksboro, Tenn. - On March 25, 2013, Riyaz Kherani, owner of Avon Amoco, located in Jellico, entered a plea of Nolo Contendere to two counts of tax evasion in Campbell County Criminal Court. Campbell County Judge Shayne Sexton sentenced Kherani, age 47, to two years probation and ordered him to pay restitution to the state in the amount of $43,074.29. The Special Investigations Section of the Tennessee Department of Revenue conducted the investigation that led to the plea and sentencing of Kherani, a resident of Knoxville, Tennessee.

  • Wilson County Businesswoman Arrested on Tax Evasion Charges

    Lebanon, Tenn. - The Special Investigations Section of the Tennessee Department of Revenue conducted the investigation that led to today's arrest of Norman Rosie Cannon, age 71, of Smithville, on tax evasion charges. Special Agents arrested Cannon at her place of business in Lebanon, Tennessee. Cannon is the owner of City Limits Cafe, Inc. Bond for Cannon was set at $10,000.

  • Davidson County Market Owner Arrested For Sales Tax Evasion and Theft

    Nashville, Tenn. - The Special Investigations Section of the Tennessee Department of Revenue conducted the investigation that led to today's arrest of Nabih H. Zaher on charges of sales tax evasion and theft. Zaher, age 55, was arrested by Special Agents of the Tennessee Department of Revenue at NSP Discount Beer & Tobacco, 3002 Clarksville Pike, in Nashville. Bond for Zaher was set at $25,000.

  • Dickson County Businessman Pleads Guilty to Tax Evasion Charges

    Charlotte, Tenn. - On March 15, 2013, Dickson County Circuit Court Judge George Sexton accepted Johnny F. Donegan's (age 63) guilty plea to sales tax evasion in violation of Tenn. Code Ann. Section 67-1-1440. Donegan was fined $1,000 and placed on two years unsupervised probation.

    Baxter, Tenn. - The Special Investigations Section of the Tennessee Department of Revenue conducted the investigation that led to the March 8, 2013, guilty plea of Punit Rajendra Patel, age 26, Corporate Officer of Yogeshwari, Inc., d/b/a PFS Market, located in Baxter, Tennessee. Judge David Patterson, Putnam County Criminal Court, accepted Patel's guilty plea to one count of theft property over $10,000.00, a Class C felony, and ordered him to pay $26,692.34 in restitution to the state of Tennessee. Patel was placed on eighteen months unsupervised probation.

  • Wilson County Man Arrested for Tax Evasion and Theft of Property

    Nashville, Tenn. - The Special Investigations Section of the Tennessee Department of Revenue conducted the investigation that led to today's arrest of Frederick C. Ritter, age 69, of Mt. Juliet on tax evasion and theft of property charges. Ritter surrendered to Special Agents with the Tennessee Department of Revenue and was booked into the Wilson County Jail. Bond was set at $6,500.

    Lebanon, Tenn. - The Special Investigations Section of the Tennessee Department of Revenue conducted the investigation that led to the February 1, 2013, guilty plea of Daljit Sandhu, age 42, president of Khalsa, Inc., d/b/a Zips Market #4, located in Lebanon, Tennessee. Judge David E. Durham, Wilson County Criminal Court, accepted Sandhu's guilty plea to one count of sales tax evasion and ordered $12,919.26 in restitution to the state of Tennessee. Sandhu was placed on two years' supervised probation.

  • Former Kubota Manager Sentenced to Thirty Days for Sales Tax Evasion Charges

    McMinnville, Tenn. - The Special Investigations Section of the Tennessee Department of Revenue conducted the investigation that led to yesterday's guilty plea of Irvie W. Loudermilk, Jr., former general manger of Warren County Kubota. Judge Bart Stanley, Warren County Circuit Court, accepted Loudermilk's guilty plea to eight counts of sales tax evasion and sentenced him to thirty days in jail and ordered $18,120.77 in restitution to the state of Tennessee. Loudermilk, already on probation for related sales tax evasion charges in Rutherford County, was placed on an additional four years' probation, which will run concurrent with those same charges.
