• Tax Relief Available to Affected Sevier County Residents

    Tax relief is available to Sevier County residents affected by the area’s recent wildfires. Tennesseans who live in any federally declared natural disaster area and who receive disaster assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) may request a refund of sales tax they paid on certain items. For more information about applying for a sales tax refund, please read our website  as well as this important notice.  Businesses who were impacted by the wildfires may also request an extension of time to file their tax returns by contacting the Department through Revenue Help or calling us at 615-253-0600.

  • Sumner County Man Pleads Guilty To Delaying Tax Payments

    The Special Investigations Section of the Tennessee Department of Revenue conducted the investigation that led to this week’s guilty plea of Kamalesh Patel for delaying sales tax payments, a Class E felony.  Patel, 39, is the corporate officer of First Stop Market in Gallatin.

  • Administrative Hearing Office Annual Report Available

    The Tennessee Department of Revenue offers the Administrative Hearing Office as a forum where taxpayers can work with informal conference personnel to resolve disputes about tax assessments and tax refund claim denials. Hearing Office personnel are required to exercise independent judgment and to render decisions on individual issues based on the facts and the law.   • Reminder of Sales Tax Return Change

    The Special Investigations Section of the Tennessee Department of Revenue conducted the investigation that led to the indictment and arrest of Fathi Alshinnawi, corporate officer of AL’s EZ Bonding in Nashville.  Alshinnawi surrendered to the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office on August 16, 2016.  Alshinnawi is one of the owners of Al’s EZ Bonding Company located in Nashville.

  • Former Tipton County Business Owner Pleads Guilty To Tax Charges

    The Special Investigations Section of the Tennessee Department of Revenue conducted the investigation that led to Monday’s guilty plea of Vinod Kumar, 47, to four class E felony tax charges.  Kumar was the managing member of Om Sai Ram Drummonds, LLC, in Tipton County.  Tipton County Judge Joe Walker accepted Kumar’s plea and placed him on 4 years of probation.
