The Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) partnered with Fox17, MyTV30, CW58, Ford Motor Company, Westfield Insurance, and Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt to help save the lives of teens with the “Ford Driving Skills for Life contest”.
Middle Tennessee high schools competed to create an effective teen safe driving awareness Public Service Announcement (PSA) to help promote teen safety and raise awareness on the dangers of driving today based on the Driving Skills for Life curriculum and other resources.
This campaign has intrigued the interest of students by giving them capacity to become positive influences and leaders in the ongoing efforts to prevent irresponsible driving. In addition, the winning PSA was aired in the season finale of American Idol! This competition was a team-building exercise that fostered creativity and teamwork, while at the same time providing real life work experience to all involved.
