Trooper Under Investigation by Office of Professional Responsibility

Nashville, Tennessee --- Department of Safety Commissioner Dave Mitchell placed Trooper Anthony R. Moreschi on administrative leave with pay on February 17, 2008, pending an investigation by the Office of Professional Responsibility.

The action followed his arrest by the Metro Police Department for Public Intoxication, Disorderly Conduct and Possession of a Firearm while Intoxicated during the early morning hours of February 17, 2008.

According to the affidavit, Trooper Moreschi was a passenger in a vehicle operated by his wife in downtown Nashville.

On Tuesday, March 11, 2008, Trooper Moreschi was temporarily reassigned in a non-law enforcement capacity to the Franklin Driver License Station in Williamson County.

Today, a Davidson County General Session Judge found Trooper Moreschi guilty of disorderly conduct in the February 17, 2008 incident. On the charges of possession of a gun while under the influence and public intoxication, Trooper Moreschi was found not guilty.

Pending the on-going investigation by the Office of Professional Responsibility, this is all the Department of Safety can release at this time.
