Two Placed on Administrative Leave

Nashville, Tennessee --- Department of Safety Commissioner Dave Mitchell has placed Sgt. Larry Hitchcock and Trooper William Futrell on administrative leave with pay, effective March 26, 2008, pending an investigation by the Office of Professional Responsibility.
The Office of Professional Responsibility initiated an internal investigation March 12, 2008 after the Department of Safety (TDOS) received external information regarding the two employees.
Pending the on-going investigation, this is all the Department of Safety can release at this time.
The Tennessee Department of Safety's mission is (www.tennessee.gov/safety) to ensure the safety and general welfare of the public. The department encompasses the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Office of Homeland Security and Driver License Services. General areas of responsibility include law enforcement, safety education, motorist services and terrorism prevention.
