>>Index of Current News Releases<< June 16, 2008 THP MOTOR PATROL TROOPER INJURED IN CRASH AT BONNAROO TROOPER STEVEN BOURQUE RECOVERING FROM INJURIES
A preliminary investigation reveals that Trooper Bourque was traveling west in the east bound lane with his blue lights activated when a 2007 Suzuki Forenza Four-Door, also traveling west bound, attempted to make a left turn into a driveway and struck Bourque’s motorcycle. The driver of the 2007 Suzuki, Zeenat S. Furniturewala, 23, of Altmaonte Springs, Florida, was cited for driving on an expired license. Trooper Bourque suffered injuries to his right ankle and shoulder and was transported by LifeForce to Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga. Although Trooper Bourque suffered broken bones in the crash, it is unclear at this time whether surgery will be required. The THP Critical Incident Response Team (C.I.R.T.) from Chattanooga was called to assist Sergeant Jeff Webb with investigating the crash scene. At this time, the crash is still under investigation. Trooper Bourque, 35, started his career as a State Trooper in January 2002. He is assigned to Marion County in the Chattanooga District. A photograph of Trooper Bourque appears below.
