I was working the night that my mother and father were killed in a two vehicle, automobile crash on U.S. Highway 45 in Madison County. I will never forget hearing the dispatcher give out the call over the police radio, sending troopers to a head-on crash with multiple fatalities. I later learned that my mother and father were two of the three that had died in that crash. At the time, I had been a state trooper for a little less than a year and was stationed in Haywood County. When I arrived at the hospital, I was met by a fellow state trooper. He didn't have to say a word, the look on his face confirmed what I already knew in my heart. Both of my parents had died at the scene from injuries received due to the violent head-on collision. Earlier that night, my parents had spent the evening, singing gospel songs at a local church near Selmer and afterwards had driven to Jackson to bring my twin daughters back home. After stopping in Jackson to buy some groceries for an elderly neighbor, they were on their way back home to Chester County. Mom and Dad spent a big portion of their life in church and loved spending time with their twin grand daughters. It has been over ten years since God took them away, yet I miss them both each and every day. I have devoted the rest of my life as a Tennessee State Trooper, trying to save anyone else I can from losing their loved ones as victims to automobile crashes caused by reckless or intoxicated drivers.
I miss you Mom and Dad,
Tim
