Qualifications

To qualify to be a Tennessee Highway Patrol State Trooper, applicants must meet the following qualifications:

New recruit at graduation from the Tennessee Highway Patrol Training Academy

Bullet point 21 Years of Age
Bullet point High School Diploma or GED
Bullet point Excellent Health
Bullet point 20/100 Uncorrected Vision Each Eye
Bullet point 20/30 Corrected Vision or Better
Bullet point No Felony Convictions
Bullet point Pass a Written Civil Service Exam
Bullet point Pass and Oral Interview Board
New recruits train on the vehicle testing course during recruit school.
Bullet point Pass a Background Investigation
Bullet point Pass a Physical Exam
Bullet point Pass a Psychological Exam
Bullet point Pass a Physical Agility Test
Bullet point Pass a Drug Test

Bullet point Must Accept Assignment Anywhere in Tennessee

Bullet point Must Possess a Valid Drivers License
