The Military Interstate Children's Compact Tennessee State Council is seeking a Volunteer to fill the roll of Military Family Education Liaison.
Position Description
MILITARY FAMILY EDUCATION LIAISON (MFEL)
The MFEL will be the first stop for Military Parents seeking assistance in the placement of their dependent military child in a Tennessee Public School under the Military Interstate Children's Compact.
The MFEL will document Compact related issues and review the Compact Rules to determine the best course of action.
The MFEL will consult with the MIC3 Tennessee State Commissioner to discuss options to resolve the enrollment issue of the dependent military child prior to taking any action.
The MFEL will also provide Compact related information to impacted school systems.
IMPORTANT: APPENDIX VII is a signed letter from the Department of Defense clarifying that DoD employees cannot serve in state military family education liaison (MFEL) positions. The letter also stresses that school liaisons should partner closely with the MFELs do conduct mutually beneficial education/training in both school systems and to military parents.
