Welcome to the Ethics and Tennessee Employment online training program.

Sponsored by the Tennessee Ethics Commission

As a Tennessee employee, your position requires a level of conduct consistent with maintaining the public’s confidence. Taxpayers, vendors and others must be assured that the business of State government is conducted fairly and ethically.

In 2006, Tennessee passed the Comprehensive Ethics Reform Act. This legislation, which established an independent Tennessee Ethics Commission to interpret and enforce the ethics laws, includes, among other provisions, restriction on the receipt of gifts by covered state officials.

This program explains ethics laws in easy-to-understand language. Explanations of the laws are provided and are followed by a series of “real life” examples to test your understanding. The examples are meant to illustrate pertinent sections of the law and not to trick you. They are not meant for use as legal advice. For questions regarding your concerns, you are encouraged to contact your agency’s ethics officer or the Tennessee Ethics Commission.
