The Job Placement Standard of the Performance Funding program is designed to provide incentives for community colleges to continue to improve job placement of their career program graduates. During the 2005-10 performance funding cycle, community colleges can earn up to 10 points for successful placement of their graduates. Institutions conduct a survey of graduates each year to determine job placement. Graduates from the spring, summer and fall terms within a calendar year are surveyed through June 30 of the following year. Graduates in the military service or who are pursuing further education are not included in the placement calculation.
The Job Placement Standard is also linked to the State’s goal regarding student performance and academic quality. By the year 2010, at least 90 percent of students who complete vocational programs at Tennessee’s community colleges will successfully be placed in jobs related to their degree training.
