The Office of Open Records Counsel is housed within the Office of the Comptroller of the Treasury for administrative purposes. The Office of Open Records Counsel provides guidance to citizens (including representatives of the media) and to local governments about the Tennessee Public Records Act (T.C.A. 10-7-501 et seq.) and the Tennessee Open Meetings Act (T.C.A. 8-44-101 et seq.). The Office of Open Records Counsel is not the records custodian for the State or for local governments, and the Office does not serve as a clearing house for record requests.
