Dekalb County Youth Dove Hunt

Sept. 5th, 2015 at Gene Young’s  Farm
1:00-1:30 PM -  Registration / 2:30-5:30 PM - Hunt

Open to ages 10 years to 17 years old. Bring ammo, plugged shotgun, glasses, ear protection, stool/bucket, must be hunter education certified and properly licensed.
There will be 40 staked hunting positions in the field.  A supervising adult must be at each stake.  Two youths may share a stake, but only one gun per stake.

Old Hickory WMA at Barton's Creek

Crops planted: 30 acres of broadcast wheat. 

Hunt Dates: Young Sportsman Dove Hunt on Barton's Creek Peninsula (Youth/Adult only) - September 5 (6:00 a.m. - sunset). Staked positions will be assigned by a drawing held on-site at 6 a.m. and hunters must check out at the conclusion of their hunt. Registration begins at 5:30am. Lead shot permitted. Each young sportsman must be accompanied by an adult who may also hunt. Opens September 7 for all ages.

Directions: Located off North Denny Road in Wilson County.

Owl Hollow Mill WMA

Crops planted: 30 acres of wheat, millet, sunflower, and corn.

Hunt Dates: Sept. 5 - Young Sportsman Only Dove Hunt. Each young sportsman (6-16 years of age) must be accompanied by a licensed non-hunting adult.

Sept. 6 - Open to all ages through the remainder of the season.

Directions: From I-24, take Exit 127 and follow Hwy. 64/50 west approximately 15 miles. Exit onto Hwy. 41A/64 North (Cowan Hwy.). Go 2.5 miles to Winchester Square. Follow Hwy. 50 West signs approximately 4 miles. Turn right on Maple Bend Road. The field is 1 mile ahead at the end of Maple Bend Road. (the road will trurn from pavement to gravel).

Haley-Jaqueth WMA

Haley-Jaqueth WMA in College Grove will have a youth dove hunt September 5, 2015 for youth only ages 6-16 accompanied by a non-hunting adult. Shooting from staked positions only (there are forty). Pre-registration required by contacting John Parks. After 12:00 noon, vacant staked positions will be first come, first serve.

Hiwassee Refuge Youth Dove Hunt

On Saturday, September 5, 2015 (Noon - Sunset), there will be a youth dove hunt (ages 10-15) on Hiwassee Refuge WMA. All youth must be accompanied by a non-hunting adult at least 21 years of age. Steel shot is required.

Directions: From Hwy. 58 and Hwy. 60 near Georgetown, TN, take Hwy. 60 West; go 6.7 miles and turn right onto Old Hwy. 60; go 0.7 miles and turn right onto Blythe Ferry Road; go 0.4 miles and turn left onto Meigs County Road 163; take the right fork to the parking area. From Hwy. 27 and Hwy. 60 in Dayton, TN, take Hwy. 60 East; go 8.3 miles and turn left onto Old Hwy. 60; follow directions as given above.
