Region 1 Public Leased Dove Fields

Due to heavy spring rains most corn fields are late and will not be harvested by opening day of dove season. TWRA will try to lease private fields as the corn is harvested.This information will be updated if any fields are leased.

Humphreys County Leased Field

Bogota

Crops planted: 50 acres of sunflowers/ 25 acres of wheat. 

Hunt dates: Opens at noon, on Sept. 1, for youths (16 and under) accompanied by a non-hunting adult. Multiple youths may accompany the adult as long as youths are within reach. Designated fields only. Youth hunters must check in at White Tent on Barbwire road prior to hunting. NWTF Chapter will be providing hot dogs for lunch at approximately 11:30.

Season open Sept. 2 thereafter to coincide with statewide seasons.

Directions: Travel north on Hwy 78 towards Tiptonville for 7.0 miles. In Bogota, turn left onto Hwy 103 heading west for 1.2 miles. Turn left onto Barbwire road and proceed for 2.0 miles. Field is located on right.

Camden

Crops planted : 15 acres of sunflower. 

Hunt dates: Dove hunting begins at noon on September 1. Open with the statewide seasons. 

Directions: (Benton County) - From Camden, take Hwy. 70 East and go approximately three (3) miles. Turn right (south) on Camden Landing Road and go approximately two (2) miles to where the road forks. Take the right fork and look for the signs to the dove field.

WMA Small Game Permit required.

Chambers Creek

Crops planted: 10 acres of sunflower.

Hunt dates: Opens September 1 (12:00 noon).and 6, then statewide.

Directions: Go west of Counce, TN on Hwy 57, 1.5 miles turn south on Robinson Rd. Turn left at the T and go .2 miles to the field

WMA small game permit is NOT required.

Cypress Pond Refuge

Crops planted : 18 acres of sunflower

Hunt dates: Open September 1 (12:00 noon) and then closed until September 6. Statewide seasons thereafter.    

Directions: (SE Decatur County) - Take Hwy. 412 to Hwy. 100; go south toward Decaturville. Follow the signs to the dove field.

WMA Small Game Permit required.

Harmon Creek

Crops planted:15 acres of sunflower.

Hunt dates: Opens September 1 at 12:00 noon. Open with the statewide seasons.

Directions: (Benton County) - From the court square in Camden, go east on Eva Rd. approximately 7-8 miles. Turn left on Eva Flatwood Rd. and go approximately 3 miles. Turn right on Harmon Creek Rd. and go approximately 4 miles. Turn right on Harmon Creek Church Rd. Follow the signs to the field.

WMA Small Game Permit required.


TVA Harmon Creek Boat Dock Road Field

Crops planted: 12 acres sunflower.

Hunt dates: Opens September 1 at 12:00 noon. Open with statewide seasons.

Directions: Same as Harmon Creek above except go past Harmon Creek Church Road and turn right on Harmon Creek Boat Dock Road and drive to the field on left at sign.

WMA Small Game Permit not required. 

Horns Bluff Refuge

Crops planted: 10 acres of sunflowers.
  
Hunt dates: Opens September 1 (12:00 noon). Open with statewide seasons..

Directions: (Crockett/Gibson Counties) Take Hwy 54 between Alamo and Trenton, and turn west onto Gibson
Wells Rd. Go 1 mile and turn left on Lonnie Barber Rd. Go 1 mile turn left on Hall Hay Loop Rd. Go .5 miles to field on right.

A WMA Small Game Permit required.

John Tully

Crops planted: 175 acres of sunflower on 3 fields.

Hunt dates: Season opens at 12:00 noon on September 1. Open with the statewide seasons.

Directions:

  • 55 acre youth field take Hwy 87 west from Henning to Sunk Lake Rd, turn right to Jim Fullen Rd, turn left and proceed 2 miles to field.
  • 60 acre field is in same area but go past Jim Fullen Rd 1 mile to field.
  • 65 acre field turn right on Crutcher Lake Rd off Hwy 87 and go past 4 Mile Rd. 4 miles to field.

WMA Small Game Permit required.

Moss Island

Crops planted: 25 acres of sunflowers. 

Hunt dates: Season opens at 12:00 noon on September 1. Open with the statewide seasons.

Directions: From Dyersburg, Travel west on 155 towards Caruthersville Missouri. Take Exit 2 and turn left onto Hwy 181(Great River Road) heading south for 12.0 miles. Turn left onto Moss Island Road and proceed 1.2 miles. Field is on the right.

Natchez Trace State Forest

Crops planted : 2 fields: Scarce Creek, Thorn Trail - 28 acres of sunflowers.

Hunt dates: Season opens at 12:00 noon on September 1. Open with the statewide seasons. 

Directions: (Henderson County) - Scarce Creek - From Parkers Crossroads, turn right on Wildersville Road and go approximately two (2) miles. Turn right on Scarce Creek Road and go to the power lines. The dove field is on the right. Park at the designated locations. 

Thorn Trail - From Lexington, take Hwy. 114 north. Turn left on Thorn Trail. Follow signs approximately one (1) mile to the dove field. Park in designated parking area. Alternate directions: From Parkers Crossroads, take Wildersville Road approximately five (5) miles to Lewis Trail. Turn left on Lewis Trail and go approximately 2 miles. Follow the signs to the dove field. Park in the designated parking area.

Obion River

Crops planted : 30 acres of sunflowers & 15 acres of wheat.

Hunt dates: Season opens at 12:00 noon on September 1. Open with the statewide seasons. 

Directions: Off Hwy 89 between Kenton and Sidonia on Beech Ridge Rd

Parker Branch

Crops planted:10 acres of sunflower / 2 acres of wheat.

Hunt dates: Opens September 1 at 12:00 noon. Same as the statewide seasons.

Directions: From Trenton, take Hwy. 186 and go 3.3 miles toward Gibson.

Shelby Forest

Crops planted: 12.5 acres of sunflower.

Hunt dates: Opens September 1 at 12:00 noon. Same as the statewide seasons.

Directions: Take North Watkins Northwest out of Frayser until it dead ends. Take a left. Go straight through 4-way stop. Turn right into park entrance. Go to stop sign and take a right. Go approximately 1.5 miles and turn left on the Checking Station Road. Go past checking station 2.5 miles until you reach the field at the end of the road.

WMA Small Game Permit is required.

Thorny Cypress

Crops planted: 18 acres of sunflowers, 25 acres of wheat

Hunt dates: Opens September 1 at 12:00 noon. Same as the statewide seasons.

Directions: From Dyersburg –Travel west on 155 towards Caruthersville Missouri. Take Exit 2 and turn right onto Hwy 181.  Then make a right on Boothspoint road.  Travel to end of road and field is located on left.

Tigrett

Crops planted:13 acres of sunflower.

Hunt dates: Opens September 1 at 12:00 noon. Same as the statewide seasons.

Directions: From Dyersburg take Hwy 412 E. Go about 3 miles and turn left on Beaver Rd. Go .5 miles to field.  

WMA Small Game Permit is required.

Tumbleweed

Crops planted: 25 acres of wheat & 30 acres of sunflower.

Hunt dates: Opens September 1 at 12:00 noon. Same as the statewide seasons.

Directions: Travel west on 155 towards Caruthersville Missouri. Take Exit 2 and turn right onto Hwy. 181 (Great River Road) heading north for 7.4 miles. Turn right onto Parker Road and proceed 0.5 miles. Field and parking area will be located on right.

Walnut Log TWRA Lands (Reelfoot Area)

Crops planted : 12 acres of sunflower.

Hunt dates: Opens September 1 at 12:00 noon. Same as the statewide seasons.

Directions: From court square in Camden go east on Eva Rd. approx. 7-8 miles. Turn left on Eva Flatwood Rd. for approx. 4 miles. Turn right on Harmon Creek Boat Dock Rd. Field is on the right.

WMA Small Game Permit NOT required. 

White Oak

Crops planted : 2 fields - 18 acres of sunflowers.

Hunt dates: Open Sept. 1 (12:00 noon), Sept. 6, and remainder of statewide season.

Directions: (Northwest Hardin County) - Fields located off McCollough Rd. on the Southwest portion of the WMA, and Crooked Creek Lane, off Marshall Dr. The WMA is located Southeast of Milledgeville off Hwy. 69.

Wolf River

Crops planted : 14 acres sunflowers, 10 acres millet, 10 acres corn

Hunt dates: Opens September 1 at 12:00 noon. Same as the statewide seasons.

Directions: (Fayette County ) - Fields are located off Beasley Road; south of LaGrange; follow the signs.

Humphreys County Leased Field

Crops planted : 22 acres of millet. 

Hunt dates: Open Sept. 1 (12:00 noon), 6, & 7.

Directions: From Waverly, take Hwy 13 north go 7.6 miles and turn left onto Tn Ridge Rd. go about one mile and turn left onto Halls Creek Rd/Greenbrier Creek Rd, go 9.3 miles and dove field will be on the left.
