Donald Hosse, who introduced and help provide opportunities for many to enjoy outdoors recreation through the years, has concluded his TWRA career with his retirement in early January.

Donald began his career as a wildlife officer with the Agency in September 1991. He served in the role for almost five years and during his tenure, he received Officer of the Year award for his area. In 1997, he moved into the statewide role as Wildlife Program Coordinator, a position with some additional duties that he held until his retirement.

Among his accomplishments, Donald help expand outreach programs, especially for women and youth. The Becoming an Outdoors-Woman (BOW) events were attended by thousands through the years, offering newcomers and veterans alike, to experience various outdoors-related activities. His youth hunts gave many youngsters an opportunity to harvest their first deer and participate in many small game hunts.  He was also very active in “Hero Events” where soldiers and veterans were able to participate in hunting and fishing events each year.

When Buffalo Ridge became a part of the Agency, he helped advance its overall growth. The refuge is an important part of the Agency’s outreach programs and continues to expand. It is also the current home for the TWRA Law Enforcement Training Academy.
