Region IV Fisheries Program manager Jim Habera and Aquatic Habitat Protection biologist Rob Lindbom recently assisted with a community youth fishing program held at Victor Ashe Park in Knoxville. The event was a cooperative effort between TWRA, Creative Community Cultural Arts, Bass Unique Fishing Club, Knoxville Parks and Recreation Department.

Roger Bitz and Artie McDaniel from Buffalo Springs Hatchery stocked the pond with 150 rainbow trout the day before the program.

The event saw good participation from a diversity of area residents, with many kids going fishing for the first time. Although fishing was tough, everyone involved enjoyed time in the Tennessee outdoors. Plans for next year's program are being made and may involve catfish in hopes of a better catch rate.
