• Protection of 11,700 acres expands recreational access at Skinner Mountain Wildlife Management Area

    The Conservation Fund, the Tennessee Department of Agriculture Division of Forestry, and the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency have announced the protection of 11,723 acres of ecologically important forestland, completing a multi-year effort to conserve more than 14,700 acres in the Cumberland Plateau. Located adjacent to the state’s Skinner Mountain Wildlife Management Area, the newly conserved property will remain privately owned and sustainably managed for timber production while preserving biodiverse habitat and allowing public access for hunting, hiking, and other recreational activities.

  • Orders Now Accepted for Division of Forestry Tree Seedlings

  • Tennessee Forestry Division Names New Assistant State Forester

    The Tennessee Department of Agriculture’s (TDA) Division of Forestry announces the promotion of Wade Waters to Assistant State Forester over fire management and emergency response operations. Waters has nearly 20 years of extensive experience in forestry and wildland fire management and has served as the Division of Forestry (TDF) fire chief since 2018. His skill and leadership earned him an Excellence in Service award from Governor Bill Lee in 2020.

  • New Farmers Now Eligible for Cost Share Assistance

  • Wildland Fire Hazard Mitigation Grants Available to Communities

    The Tennessee Department of Agriculture’s Division of Forestry (TDF) will be accepting grant applications for the Hazard Mitigation Assistance Program beginning Aug. 9 and continuing through Sept. 10, 2021. Communities that have developed or are in the process of developing a Community Wildfire Prevention Plan (CWPP) will be eligible for funding to implement hazard mitigation assistance and education projects in their CWPP.

  • Natchez Trace State Forest Work Center Opens

  • Grant Award to Stimulate Tennessee Wood Products Success Internationally

    Funds to research exports of Tennessee’s hardwood will benefit the wood products industry statewide and strengthen international markets. The Tennessee Department of Agriculture (TDA) has been awarded an Emerging Markets Program (EMP) grant from the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service to study Tennessee hardwood viability in Vietnam.
