Tennessee Forestry Commission To Meet

NASHVILLE – The Tennessee Forestry Commission will meet July 28-29 for a special two-day gathering.

Committee members will start July 28 at 2 p.m. EDT to tour the Tennessee Nursery located at 9063 U.S. Highway 411in Delano, Tenn. The tour includes a look at the nursery’s seedling beds, seed orchards, fabrication shed, packing shed, and time to talk with crew members. 

The meeting will reconvene July 29 at 8 am. EDT at Greenway Farm located at 4960 Gann Store Road in Hixon, Tenn. The agenda on that day includes a review of the previous meeting’s minutes, discussion of nursery issues, timber sales, the recent wildfires in East Tennessee, and the importance of urban forestry programs.

Lunch will be provided at the July 29 gathering. Both meetings are open to the public.

The Tennessee Forestry Commission comprises seven members representing the public’s interests as they relate to forest resources in the state. The commission advises the Tennessee Department of Agriculture on forest issues. For more information, contact TDA’s Division of Forestry at 615-837-5520.
