Newly Certified Law Enforcement Officers Graduate Dec. 18

NASHVILLE – Over 90 newly certified officers will graduate at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 18 from the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy (TLETA) at 3025 Lebanon Pike in Donelson. Robertson County Sheriff Bill Holt will deliver the commencement address.

Basic Police School Class 1782’s graduation marks the conclusion of the 10-week Basic Police School course which provides technical and tactical expertise as well as the ethical and professional standards of law enforcement necessary for success. This is the final Basic Police School offered by TLETA in 2015. The course began Oct. 11.  

“Serving as a law enforcement officer is one of the most challenging and rewarding careers someone can choose,” said TLETA Director Brian Grisham. “TLETA gives its graduates the training needed to make good choices in the midst of high-pressure situations. I commend the students of Basic Police School Class 1782 for their commitment, dedication, and accomplishments.”

Upon completion of their classwork and graduation, the newly certified officers will join the ranks of thousands of law enforcement officers across Tennessee who studied at TLETA and went on to be commissioned by state and local law-enforcement agencies. More than 400 students will have graduated from TELTA’s Basic Police School in 2015 and more than 1,900 students will have completed training both at the Academy and at off-site training.

Basic Police School Class 1782’s members will serve the following law-enforcement agencies including police departments (PD), sheriffs’ offices (SO) and state agencies:

Algood PD, Athens PD, Brownsville PD, Carter County SO, Celina PD, Clarksville PD, Clay County SO, Columbia PD, Crockett County SO, Fayetteville PD, Fentriss County SO, Gallatin PD, Hardeman County SO, Henderson County SO, Hickman County SO, Humboldt County SO, Lauderdale County SO, LaVergne PD, Lawrence County SO, Macon County SO, Madison

County SO, Madisonville PD, Mt. Juliet PD, Murfreesboro PD, Paris PD, Putnam County SO, Robertson County SO, Rutherford County SO, Smith County SO, Springfield PD, Sullivan County SO, Sumner County SO, TN State Parks, Tullahoma PD, Warren County SO, White County SO, and Williamson County SO.

The next Basic Police School class begins Jan. 10, 2016 with graduation set for April 1.
