Consumer Affairs Joins BBB to Offer Free Document Shredding in Memphis April 21

NASHVILLE – The Tennessee Department of Commerce & Insurance’s (TDCI) Division of Consumer Affairs will join the Better Business Bureau of the Mid-South (BBB) and its partners to provide free document shredding to Memphis-area residents this Saturday, April 21, 2018.

The drive-through “Secure Your ID Day” event aims to help consumers protect their personal and financial information from identity thieves by providing fast and easy disposal of paper documents that are no longer needed, like old bank statements, tax information and medical records. Staff and volunteers will be on hand to provide educational materials and tips to teach participants how to avoid scammers.

What:   Free document shredding. Individuals and businesses are limited to five boxes or bags of documents per person.

When: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. (CDT) Saturday, April 21, 2018

Where: The Commercial Appeal, 495 Union Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee  38103

How:  Express Lane (1-2 boxes/bags to shred): Line up in turn lane on Union Avenue facing west (facing the river). Standard Lane (3-5 boxes/bags to shred): Line up in the right-hand curb lane on Union Avenue facing east.
