NASHVILLE – The Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance (TDCI) is notifying insurance producers of a new application that makes licensing and education compliance faster and easier than ever.

The free application, which was launched by the National Insurance Producer Registry (NIPR), allows insurance professionals to safely and securely access their licensure and continuing education information on mobile devices. Any professional licensed by a state insurance department can use the app to view their basic licensing information, like license numbers, expiration dates, and lines of authority. The application will also push notifications to licensees reminding them of expiration dates, termination dates, and effective dates.

“Keeping up with licensure and education requirements can be a daunting task for busy insurance professionals—especially those licensed in multiple states,” said TDCI Interim Commissioner Carter Lawrence. “The new application from NIPR is a great resource for agents, and it also empowers consumers to ask for proof of licensure prior to conducting business with an insurance professional.”

The app gives insurance professionals 24/7 access to their licensing and continuing education information, while also providing an easy means of showing proof of licensure to carriers, agencies, and consumers, should it be requested. In Tennessee, there are over 195,000 actively licensed insurance producers. These licensees are required to complete 24 credit hours of approved continuing education prior to renewing their license on a biennial basis.
