Offenders at the Morgan County Correctional Complex (MCCX) have been busy this year making toys for Operation Christmas Child.

Operation Christmas Child is a special program that provides children around the world with a shoe box filled with toys and other items they might not otherwise have, such as toothbrushes, combs, soap, stuffed animals, pencils, paper and other essentials.

The MCCX vocational class has been busy all year making small wooden cars and trucks for the boxes, with the support of the First Baptist Church in Jamestown. So far, 5,000 toys have been made and the class is still working hard to turn out even more.

Local churches and schools will then pack the boxes that will be sent around the world.

The program provides a great opportunity for the offenders to not only learn a skill but to give back to the community.
