Minimum Security Inmate Quinton Stewart Captured After Walk Off

NASHVILLE - Minimum custody inmate Quinton Stewart #308683 has been captured, less than 24 hours after walking away from his assigned community service work crew.

Early this afternoon, TDOC agents discovered Stewart walking along a wooded roadway in the Coffee County community of Beech Grove.  Stewart was taken into custody without resistance and transported to Morgan County Correctional Complex where charges are pending.  A suspected accomplice, Samantha Taylor, was arrested overnight and transported to the Metro Nashville Criminal Justice Center where she is being charged with Facilitation of Escape.

Yesterday afternoon, officers patrolling the grounds at Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery noticed Stewart had absconded and immediately implemented appropriate security measures.  TDOC agents worked closely with state and local law enforcement on the investigation.  Stewart was being housed at Riverbend Maximum Security Institution and was serving 25 years for Second Degree Murder from Rutherford County.  He was set to expire his sentence in October 2019. The investigation is ongoing and no further details are available at this time.
