MEMPHIS - More than 180 former offenders received job offers during a job readiness and career fair held in Memphis today by the Tennessee Department of Correction.

More than 30 employers, as well as representatives from community resource agencies, were in attendance at today’s career fair, held at the Pipkin Building on Early Maxwell Road.  Attendees met with potential employers and had the opportunity to get assistance with job training and placement, education, legal issues, health care and faith-based community support.  Throughout the day, a total of 187 former offenders received job offers from local employers. TDOC partnered with the Tennessee Reentry Collaborative to hold this year’s event.

Reducing recidivism through evidence-based programs and continued support after an offender’s release from incarceration is part of the Tennessee Department of Correction’s ongoing mission to ensure and enhance public safety.
